As the community of Springbank continues to mourn the deaths of two teenage girls in a crash that also sent two other girls to hospital, an online fundraiser for one of the affected families has gathered thousands in donations.

When Cochrane RCMP arrived at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Range Road 32, between Township Road 251A and 250, shortly after midnight last Thursday, two teenage girls were found dead. The other two occupants of the car, also teenage girls, were taken to Foothills Medical Centre in life-threatening condition, according to RCMP.

The two who died at the scene were Daniela Nicoletti and Tyler Anne, while Daniela's sister, Giulia, and their friend Kaela Leier were taken to hospital in critical condition.

The four were students at Springbank Community High School.

A Gofundme fundraiser to support Anne's family gathered more than $35,000 in donations in its first day online. The page says the money will help her parents as they have the “impossible task of burying their child.”

“Ty, just 17, radiated love and the promise of an incredibly bright future,” the page reads.

“She had a heart of a warrior and a smile that lit up a room. She was gentle, fun-loving, brilliant and funny. She was just at the beginning of her life when she was tragically killed in a car accident, just moments from her home.”

Encouraging words for the other families involved in the crash were also written on the Gofundme page.

A memorial began growing on Range Road 32 on Friday morning following the accident, with bouquets of flowers and several stuffed animals placed along the road.

RCMP say it could take longer than a month to release details about the crash, as they work to determine its cause.
