Ford's F-series pickups turn 75 years old next year, and to celebrate, the automaker has announced the 2023 F-150 Heritage Edition, which will be available in Canada.

The special edition will be offered on the XLT trim and use the classic two-tone exterior paint scheme that was popular on Ford's trucks in the 1970s and 1980s. Known as the “A-B-A” pattern, it has an “A” colour on the roof and pillars, “B” colour on the midsection, and then the “A” colour again on the bumpers and lower portion of the truck.

Available colours on the 2023 F-150 include Race Red with Carbonized Grey, Atlas Blue with Agate Black, Antimatter Blue with Carbonized Grey, Avalanche with Agate Black, and Area 51 with Agate Black.

The interior will be available in grey and black, with unique seat inserts, embossing on the console lid, and a “75 Years” logo on the upper windshield, centre screen startup animation, and centre console. The trucks will be available for ordering in mid-july, with pricing announced closer to that date.

Ford introduced its all-new F-series in 1948, the truck's first major redesign in more than a decade and the first use of the “F” designation. The half-ton model was called the F-1, while heavy duty models ranged from the F-2 to the F-4. The trucks were redesigned for 1953 — the Ford Motor Company's 50th anniversary — and renamed F-100 to F-800. The F-150 was introduced for 1975 as an upgraded version of the F-100 with a more heavy duty front axle and springs, and the F-100 disappeared after 1983.
