Olga Powell (nee Gregory) born October 10, 1930 in Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the age of 91 years. Olga was predecease­d by her beloved husband of 72 years, Walter. Olga was proud of her family and grandchild­ren. She was also proud to be a native Calgarian. Olga passed on Ukrainian traditions such as Easter egg decorating (pysanka) and making perogies, holubchi, and Easter bread. She enjoyed knitting and reading and was a fantastic cook and baker. Olga worked for the Calgary Catholic School Board and was the registrar for St. Francis High School until she retired. She loved gardening and flowers, especially orchids, and with Walter opened a flower shop named “Floral Creations”. Olga is survived by her son Joel Powell, son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Susan Powell; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Tim Malainey, Monica and Pete Phillips, and Gail and Mike Bartel; nine grandchild­ren, Kayla (Ian) Lauzon, Lindsay Phillips, Megan Malainey, Connor Malainey, Logan Powell, Allison Bartel, Ryan Bartel, Tyler Powell, and Jeff Bartel; and two great-grandchild­ren, Rory and Lachlan Lauzon. Olga was also predecease­d by her sisters Kay, Mary, Jean, Nettie, and Annie; and her brothers Nick and Walter. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mcinnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Prayers and Tributes will follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB) on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
