RE/MAX remains No. 1 in Calgary, with 28th straight Readers’ Choice Gold honour

- BARB LIVINGSTONE

We are very proud of the award. You don't win 28 times without being good at what you do.”

For every year that Calgary Herald readers have voted for their favourite real estate company, RE/MAX has come out on top.

And, in 2022, for the 28th consecutive year, RE/MAX

has once again picked up Gold in the Calgary Readers’ Choice awards.

“We are very proud of the award,” says Doug Koop, broker/owner, RE/MAX Realty Professionals. “You don’t win 28 times without

being good at what you do. I am very proud of our Realtors.”

For the 1,000-plus RE/MAX professionals working with clients in Calgary and the surrounding areas, being good at what they do means successfully building trust with buyers and sellers, Koop says.

“Ultimately, it is the knowledge of the market and the confidence that we will do the right thing for them. That means our business is not built entirely on advertising, but on repeat customers and referrals from happy clients to their friends and families.”

What RE/MAX real estate agents offer to clients continues to grow as the company expands its technological offerings, which Koop says are “unrivalled in the real estate industry.”

Those offerings include

upgraded software programs and continued investment and improvements to its websites — remax.ca and remax.com — that offer not

only listings, but a look at housing trends and tips.

“It’s information at your fingertips, designed to

better serve our clients.”

Even when markets get tighter, the RE/MAX brand typically grows and widens the gap in market share between itself and other real estate brands.

“The decision is made at the kitchen table to go with

RE/MAX because we are the

most trusted brand,” Koop says of both buyers and sellers.

With realty offices in 110 countries, Koop says the company can connect clients from around the world.

That is particularly advantageous

in Calgary’s real estate market where economic diversification, particularly in sectors such as technology, and continued housing affordability have attracted investors and out-of-province job seekers.

“All predictions are that

Calgary, economically, is going to come through any slowdown relatively unscathed,” he says, while markets in places such as Toronto and Vancouver have dropped significantly.

“If you are young and just starting out, then there are a lot of advantages to moving to Calgary. And a lot of Realtors are touting the advantages here to other markets.”

Koop says he expects more people to move to Calgary next year, attracted by the city’s housing affordability and economic strength.

And for RE/MAX, that means a continued strong brand and business model that is represented by the company’s Readers’ Choice Gold.

“RE/MAX Realtors don’t invent new business every month, but follow the business philosophy that referrals and repeat business drive our brand. It’s about doing a great job for our clients. Every year we win this award confirms it. We are

very proud of it.”
