-

The Calgary Surge have re-signed guard Sean `Rugzy' Miller-moore for the 2024 season, the team announced Wednesday.

A fan favourite and 2023 Canadian Elite Basketball League all-canadian, Miller-moore was a key player in the Surge's inaugural season.

Miller-moore started in all 23 games, leading the team with an average of 16.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He was named captain of Team West at the CEBL Clash showcase in Quebec City last August.

“We are thrilled to re-sign Sean Miller-moore,” said Surge manager Shane James. “He had a phenomenal season last year, and he's only continuing to improve as a player.

“He has worked tirelessly on improving his overall game during the off-season, and we believe he will continue to drive our success on the court and inspire fans off of it.”

Prior to his time with the Calgary Surge, Miller-moore made his CEBL debut with the Guelph Nighthawks in 2022.

He also represented the CEBL with the Brampton Honey Badgers at the Basketball Champions League Americas, during which he appeared in six games and averaged 9.8 points per game. Known for his signature dunking style, Miller-moore was named one of Sportscenter's Top 10 repeat slam artists in 2022.

“There is unfinished business in Calgary,” Miller-moore said. “I am excited to contribute to the Calgary Surge's winning culture and play in front of the league's best fans.”

The 6-foot-5 guard from Brampton, Ont., is a graduate of Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Throughout his senior year, Miller-moore averaged 7.2 points, 1.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. He played 30 games and averaged 20.4 minutes per game.

Fans can now get tickets to the team's season opener at Scotiabank Saddledome.
