A new luxury townhome development designed to capture park and pond views is set to launch on May 4 in the northwest community of University District. Aptly named Guild, referring to an artisanal collective, the collection of 40 townhomes is designed to evoke a sense of belonging, craftsmanship and resident-focused collective identity.

The award-winning builder Crystal Creek Homes is the driving force behind the innovative concept. Guild will feature contemporary architecture with unique lineal masonry and plenty of glass fashioned to “go beyond bricks and mortar.”

“These homes embody comfort, style and most importantly, they bring our homeowner's vision to life. It's an innovative approach, perfectly aligned with the vision of University District,” says Justin Bobier, president and CEO of Crystal Creek Homes.

Designed as an enclave of six buildings, backing onto the community's pathway system and surrounded by two acres of green space with a feature pond, Guild is situated in the northwest portion of the community within a short stroll of University's District's High Street with its comprehensive selection of shops, services and restaurants, including favourites like Una Pizza + Wine, Monogram, Native Tongues Taqueria, OEB Breakfast Co. and Village Ice Cream.

Located to the west of the University of Calgary and overlooking the Bow River and the Rocky Mountains, University District's amenities are vast — more than 200 acres of space, two dog parks, water features, a splash park and walking paths. There's also ongoing programming from bustling night markets, yoga in the park, a dog festival held annually in June, as well as winter skating parties.

“We continue to focus on developing a complete and mindful community, offering a broad range of high-quality, multi-family housing options and an array of unique community amenities for Calgarians,” says Novy Cheema, president and CEO of Calgary Properties Group, the developer behind University District. “We warmly welcome the innovation in design that Crystal Creek Homes has to offer as our newest builder and look forward to celebrating Guild as a fitting townhome addition to University District.”

Homes at Guild will stand four storeys high and offer more than 2,000 square feet of living space with a ground-level double-car garage. Buyers can choose from two floor plans: a two-bedroom design or a three-bedroom model.

Some of the design highlights include an open-concept floor plan, hardwood flooring, a generous quartz-topped island with a waterfall edge, custom cabinetry and designer-curated fixtures unique to this project, as well as a private elevator, perfect for those wanting to age in place while experiencing ease of living. The chef-inspired kitchens come with a Wolf and Sub-zero appliance package, an added bonus for those who love to cook and entertain. For added privacy, each bedroom has its own ensuite.

But perhaps the most distinguishing and coveted design aspect is the full-length private, rooftop patio that allows for commanding views of the pond and park.

Offering additional outdoor space, a second-level terrace extends from the main living space.

Adding to peace of mind, Guild is also expected to achieve Built Green Gold certification, meaning that homes are third-party certified as being built to one of the highest levels of sustainability and energy efficiency and that equates to a healthier, more cost-efficient home.

Although many of Guild's more intimate details (including pricing) are under wraps until the unveiling of the show home on May 4, there's no doubt that this collection of homes will offer plenty of luxury in the midst of a highly walkable community.

“We believe that University District is one of the city's most visionary and ambitious projects. They continue to raise the bar with each new development, while offering a broad range of amenities, park space and daily conveniences — making it the perfect location for Guild,” says Crystal Creek's Bobier.

Guild's grand opening, along with the unveiling of the show home, will take place May 4 from noon to 5 p.m. at the University District Discovery Centre at 4410 University Ave. NW. After the opening, the show home viewing hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m., and weekend and holidays from noon to 5 p.m. It will be closed on Mondays.
