Avs finding a way to ground the Jets

-

The Colorado Avalanche's playoff slogans are Find A Way and All In.

So far so good for the team that's now playing like the dangerous one that won the 2022 Stanley Cup.

The Avs, getting production from top guns such as Valeri Nichushkin, Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar, rolled over the Winnipeg Jets 5-1 on Sunday to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Jets, who finished three points ahead of the Avs and pointed to Vezina Trophy-worthy netminder Connor Hellebuyck as their key to success, have lost 5-2, 6-2 and 5-1 since their 7-6 win in Game 1. For those keeping score at home, that's 22 goals against in four games. Brazil defender Thiago Silva will

leave Chelsea at the end of the season after four years at the club.

The 39-year-old Silva made the announcement on Monday, saying he is leaving the door open for a return to Chelsea “in another role.”

“Goodbyes are for those that leave and don't come back,” he said in a message to Chelsea's fans. “I intend on coming back one day.”

Silva joined Chelsea in 2020 after his contract at Paris Saint- Germain expired. He said he only planned to stay at the English club for one season.

He continued playing for the team after winning the Champions League at the end of his first season there. Now his sons are playing in Chelsea's youth teams. Aaron Judge homered in the first inning and played a central role as a baserunner during a seven-run rally in the sixth as the New York Yankees defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 15-5 on Sunday.

Anthony Rizzo went 4 for 4 and hit his 300th career homer. Anthony Volpe added a three-run shot on his 23rd birthday. Judge went 3 for 4 with three RBIS, including a 441-foot solo shot.

New York also beat Milwaukee 15-3 on Saturday, marking the first time since 2007 the Yankees had at least 15 runs in back-to-back games.

The game was tied at 4 before the Yankees' sixth-inning outburst. All seven of their runs scored with two outs after the Brewers failed to turn a double play earlier in the inning because shortstop Willy Adames' attempted throw to first hit Judge's padded left hand.
