Indigenous art hits home
Congratulations to Kent Monkman for his excellent, thought-provoking paintings in the June-July issue. The Scream particularly strikes home because my children and grandson are Indigenous.
Many Indigenous children are routinely removed today from their homes and never given back because their families do not have the money to fight for them in court. Reports say there are more Native children in care today than there ever were during the residential school days. Monkman’s painting could depict today. Mary Lowther Mesachie Lake, British Columbia
