Susan Goldenberg,

who wrote “Something to Squawk About,” lives in Toronto. She has published nine non-fiction books on Canadian history and is working on more. She also writes a heritage column about the community of North York, which is part of Toronto. Goldenberg says she grew fond of Louis the parrot while researching the bird’s tale and regards the saga as amusing yet poignant because of Victoria Jane Wilson’s largely stifled life.
