HBC ignites fond memories

-

Regarding your article on the HBC (“An Epic Tale,” April-May 2020), my father, John G. W. McIntyre, worked for the Bay for fourteen years. He was very proud to work with the “Company of Adventurers,” as he put it. I have the old wooden doorstop, encased in acrylic, that was saved from his office in the building in downtown Winnipeg. On May 2, 1970, I took a trolley bus to the Bay store in downtown Vancouver and joined a queue to purchase a point blanket. It has been on my bed ever since and looks as good as when it was new.
