Sylvia D. Hamilton

is the author of “Think on Me.” Hamilton is an award-winning Nova Scotian multidisciplinary artist known for the documentaries Portia White: Think on Me, The Little Black School House, and Black Mother Black Daughter, among others. Her poetry collection, And I Alone Escaped to Tell You, was a finalist for the Nova Scotia Masterworks Award and a League of Canadian Poets Award. She is the recipient of the 2019 Governor General’s History Award for Popular Media: The Pierre Berton Award.
