A CALL TO ORDER
It’s called The Assembly, a gourmet food hall and chef-driven community market slated to open this year in Toronto’s Richmond-Adelaide Centre. The complex will be part food hall, part beer parlour, part music venue—with 638 seats spread out over 18,000 square feet on indoor and outdoor space. It features local chef-personalities helming offshoots of their official restaurants located elsewhere in the city, such as Kate Taylor Martin of Nutbar, the self-proclaimed “healthy coffee bar.” Seventeen restaurants from the Toronto area will be represented in the space. Chef Ivana Raca of Ufficio ( please see p. 63) helms Resto Boemo, serving Canadian comfort food. She plans to tap her network and invite mentors and colleagues—Lynn Crawford, Antonio Park—to do guest appearances. Other chefs taking up residence in the hall include Nick Liu (Dailo), Vittorio Colacitti (The Good Son) and Elia Herrera (Los Colibris and El Caballito). —D.S.
