CANADIAN WHISKY

Canada’s 100 Best - - Q +a -

This second edition establishes Davin de Kergommeaux, former contributing editor to Whisky Magazine and contributor to Whisky Advocate, as perhaps the pre-eminent expert on his subject. Wrapped around precise tasting notes on 100-plus whiskies— fully updated since the 2012 first edition—de Kergommeaux presents a deeply researched and beautifully written narrative on the importance of Canada’s contributions to the distilled arts. Correcting misinformation (a.k.a., lore and legend) is his prime goal. “No mere bootleggers, we Canadians!” he keenly asserts, and we should embrace with pride our role in defining what it is to be a whisky called rye. These are exciting times for distilling in Canada, he says, nodding to veterans and craft upstarts alike— and that’s worth recognizing with a raised glass.
