Hearst, On­tario. Trained as a civil en­gi­neer at

Ry­er­son Polytech­ni­cal

In­sti­tute and Car­leton Univer­sity, he en­joyed a long ca­reer work­ing on projects in the Arc­tic and in First Na­tions com­mu­ni­ties. One of the ben­e­fits of his ex­po­sure to Canada’s cul­tural di­ver­sity was the en­dur­ing friend­ships he de­vel­oped with many In­dige­nous peo­ple. In his re­tire­ment he en­joys writ­ing about peo­ple and events that have af­fected his life.
