British Columbia ROYAL ROADS UNIVERSITY VICTORIA 18 months / 7–10 years’ work experience required (3–5 mgmt.) / $48,150

Through both online and on-campus modules, students can specialize in management consulting, leadership, internatio­nal business and innovation in Europe, or internatio­nal business in Asia Pacific. The school touts real-world learning, such as a module that pairs teams with companies to identify a management problem. Students then provide recommenda­tions and an action plan. The program starts in January and August.

BEEDIE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Simon Fraser University, VANCOUVER 20 months / 10 years’ work experience required (4 mgmt.) / $52,500

Beedie emphasizes teamwork; students and profs embark on a working retreat to Whistler at the start of the program. The Americas MBA for Executives sends students to partner schools in San Francisco, Nashville, Mexico City and São Paulo. Beedie also offers a three-year EMBA tailored to B.C.’s northwest region, with courses taught at local institutio­ns. Classes for the regular EMBA occur Friday and Saturday every other weekend, starting in September.

Prairies ALBERTA SCHOOL OF BUSINESS/HASKAYNE University of Alberta and University of Calgary, EDMONTON/CALGARY 20–24 months / 7 years’ work experience required / $65,750

Students in this joint program specialize in finance, and attend classes on campus for a week at the start of each semester, then in alternate Friday and Saturday sessions for the rest of the term. (Classes take place in both cities.) An internatio­nal study tour is offered at the end of the program. Perks include an executive speaker series (past guests include Clive Beddoe of WestJet) and leadership developmen­t workshops focused on topics such as diversity and political savvy. Classes start in August and January.

KENNETH LEVENE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS University of Regina, REGINA 16–20 months / 5 years’ work experience required (5 mgmt.) / $46,860

Designed for seasoned career profession­als, Levene’s program consists of a four-day weekend workshop, two one-week courses, 12 course modules and a supervised capstone project. Classes involve guest lecturers, group discussion­s and case study analyses. Levene focuses on internatio­nal business and the cultural nuances of management and leadership. The program finishes with a trip abroad, where students meet with local executives and complete a consulting project with colleagues from host schools. The program begins in August with two weekend workshops, followed by classes on Friday or Saturday.

Ontario DEGROOTE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS McMaster University, BURLINGTON 13 months / 7 years’ work experience required (5 mgmt.) / $85,000

The DeGroote EMBA in Digital Transforma­tion debuted this year and focuses on how technology is changing business. Students take courses in four 10-day sessions, the second of which is in Palo Alto, Calif. In addition to standard EMBA topics, students study data science, business analytics and entreprene­urship. The program begins in September, in time for the school’s Digital

Leadership Summit, a conference focused on organizati­onal transforma­tion.
