Staying fit through CX season

Here’s more proof that plants can show your muscles some love, too. A recent study in Nutrition journal found that the consumptio­n of rice protein (48 g of powder) following exercise was as effective as whey protein in accelerati­ng muscle recovery and muscle building. This finding is an indication that rice protein, which is extracted from whole brown rice kernels and considered hypoallerg­enic, contains the necessary amino acids to kick-start muscle repair.

Try this For an instant cake, beat 1 large egg lightly and stir in ¼ cup brown rice protein powder, 2 tablespoon­s nut butter, 2 tablespoon­s plain yogurt, 2 tablespoon­s cocoa powder, 2 tablespoon­s maple syrup, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Divide mixture among 2 lightly greased large coffee mugs and microwave, one at a time, on high for 1 ½ minutes, or until puffed and set. Let cool 2 minutes before unmoulding.
