Staying fit through CX season
Here’s more proof that plants can show your muscles some love, too. A recent study in Nutrition journal found that the consumption of rice protein (48 g of powder) following exercise was as effective as whey protein in accelerating muscle recovery and muscle building. This finding is an indication that rice protein, which is extracted from whole brown rice kernels and considered hypoallergenic, contains the necessary amino acids to kick-start muscle repair.
Try this For an instant cake, beat 1 large egg lightly and stir in ¼ cup brown rice protein powder, 2 tablespoons nut butter, 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, ½ teaspoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon cinnamon and a pinch of salt. Divide mixture among 2 lightly greased large coffee mugs and microwave, one at a time, on high for 1 ½ minutes, or until puffed and set. Let cool 2 minutes before unmoulding.
