5Guests participate in Cycling BC’S fifth evening of champions fundraising dinner. The event helps to support iride programs, training camps and competitive opportunities for young cyclists. Special guests include Pierre Lafontaine, ceo of Cycling Canada, and some of the country’s top riders.

5Milano-torino is one of the final road races of the 2017 season. In 2016, Ottawa’s Michael Woods finished second in this hors category event, just behind Miguel Ángel López. Woods will likely be back looking to stand on the top step of the podium.

27National time trial champion Karol-ann Canuel, road race champion Matteo Dal-cin and Worldtour rider Michael Woods feature at the Ottawa Cycling Celebration. The cocktail reception, with silent auction, will raise funds for the National Capital Region Cycling Bursary, which has help developing riders from the area since 2000.

27-29The national cx championships return to Sherbrooke, Que. Last year, Maghalie Rochette (p. 38) took the elite women’s title. Will she be able to defend it? Jérémy Martin announced his retirement from professional cycling this past April, so it looks like a new elite male rider will don the maple-leaf jersey this year. The weekend starts with a team relay race on Friday evening. On Saturday, all the national championship races – for under-13 riders to sexagenarian (and older) racers – run in Jacques-cartier Park. On Sunday, competitors can race again in the final event of the Coupe du Québec Série de Cyclocross Maglia Rosa.
