28 On this day in 2016, pro cyclist Ellen Watters died in hospital from injuries she sustained after being struck by a vehicle five days earlier when the was out for a training ride near Sussex, N.B. The passing of Ellen’s law, a one-metre passing law, roughly six months later was the result of work by many cyclists in New Brunswick, including those of the Saint John Cycling Club (p.20).
