Nature Calls

-

One day while descending one of the steepest local hills in Collingwood, Ont., as I was on the last part of the descent travelling at around 65 km/h, I noticed something on my side of the road. As I got closer, it turned out to be a family of raccoons. I had to brake pretty hard not to hit them. One of them, probably the mother, turned toward me and hissed. Even though I could have had a serious crash, the hissing made me laugh. There’s lots of wildlife in our area. I have seen everything from deer, foxes, turtles and snakes, but this was the only time I’ve been hissed at. Tony Hanemaayer Collingwood, Ont.
