1 You have 24 shopping days until Christmas. Don’t panic. Head over to our gift guide on p.58.

14 It’s the last Friday night race at the Burnaby velodrome for the year. The night’s event is entitled, “Christmas Cramper Racing.” Sounds like holly, jolly fun. 14-16 The track cycling World Cup has its final European stop of the season in London. Riders take to the boards at the Lee Valley Velopark.

17 On this day in 1903, 115 years ago, two bicycle builders from Dayton, Ohio, got an airplane off the ground at Kitty Hawk, N.C. Much of what Wilbur and Orville Wright learned from bike manufacturing and maintenance helped them to build the Wright Flyer.

20 For the fourth year in a row, Cycling Canada is running its Christmas Cross Camp. The program provides support to elite and developing athletes in Europe. Look for Canucks at the following events: Namur World Cup (Dec. 23), Zolder World Cup (Dec. 26), DVV Trofee Azencross (Dec. 28), Superprestige Diegem (Dec. 30) and Grand Prix Sven Nys (Jan. 1).
