Maxxis took from its top-performing trail tire, the Rekon, and created a speedy version for cross country, the Rekon Race. The lower-profile treads of the Race do well in hardpack and solid surfaces with some loose stuff sprinkled on top. The 29"-diameter tire comes in widths of 2.25 and 2.3. The model shown here has a high thread count of 120. t.p.i. The sidewalls are reinforced with the company’s Exo protection for durability and puncture-resistance. ( maxxis.com)
