What’s your favourite coffee drink? A chai latte. I just love the warm flavours of cinnamon and cardamom. The subtle hit of espresso just makes it all the better. Tell me about the café?

Some have dubbed the Pastry Peddler as the hub of Millbrook since it’s a great place to meet up with your friends for lunch, treats or just hang out while you wait for your bike to get finished with its tune up upstairs at Frog Cycles. Deanna Bell and I started Pastry Peddler 10 years ago at the Peterborough Farmers Market selling our cakes, pies, breakfast treats and other assorted goodies. The name came from when I was attending Stratford Chef School for pastry arts many years ago. It just stuck as it represents all the things I really love: desserts and cycling.

What’s the local riding scene like?

The local riding scene and culture here is really cool. We have a group of super talented trail builders constantly pushing the envelope. The road/gravel scene is also heavy as we have some great roads to explore. And, if you love pain, all routes out of Millbrook start with a hill or two. There are so many great rides here that cater to everyone. Sometimes you just have to clip in and see where you end up.

Do you have plans for the café?

We will have a patio out front of our café, which will allow for a few more tables, so all who visit Pastry Peddler have a chance to slow down, enjoy some great food and beverages and meet new friends.

Who’s the most notable cyclist to stop in?

We have had many great visitors to our café; I can’t pinpoint one specific cyclist because I feel we are all notable cyclists. Anyone who journeys to our café on two wheels is great in my books.
