Liv Langma Advanced Pro 2 Disc $4,399
Nimble on long climbs and switchbacks – atop tubeless tires – the Langma’s lightweight frame is built with Liv’s Advanced Composite technology. It’s available in five sizes, all of which include aero features. Liv’s 3F Design Philosophy carefully informed the build for women riders, while some components come from Liv’s brother Giant, such as the slr 1 Composite Aero Disc wheels, hubs and spokes, and the Giant Contact SL bar and stem. A Shimano Ultegra groupset rounds out the components on this fast, agile steed. ( liv-cycling.com)
Cannondale CAAD13 Disc Women’s $2,750
Almost four decades of work in the high-performance aluminum road-bike realm have gone into the Smartform C1 Premium Alloy technology used in the caad13 lightweight frame. Cannondale is so confident in its design that it has declared the myth of carbon fibre’s comfort advantage over aluminum is over (although there is a full carbon fork). The bike’s tire clearance leaves room for 30-mm-wide treads. The Speed Release thru-axle design offers wheel-removal times at close to those of traditional quick release. Truncated airfoil tube shapes can reduce drag by as much as 30 per cent. Shimano 105 components make up most of the drivetrain and are in charge of stopping as well. The women’s-specific Prologo Kappa Dea RS saddle sits atop a Hollowgram 27 Knot seatpost for a smooth ride. ( cannondale.com)
Ridley Liz SL40 $3,695
Ridley promises a smoother ride on rough roads from the diamond-shaped carbon tubing of this Liz SL40. The bike comes with Shimano 105 groupset – hydraulic disc brakes, brake levers and shifters, front and rear derailleur, and 11-speed, 11–30 tooth cassette. The Fulcrum Racing 700 DB aluminum wheelset is lightweight, while the 25c Vittoria Zaffiro Pro tires are included for on-road traction. Versatile gearing comes via the fsa Gossamer Pro compact crankset with its 50/34-tooth rings. ( mec.ca)—taranolan
