It’s Bike to Work Week in p.e.i. The province seems to be taking its cue from the League of American Bicyclists, which has set the event for this week and Bike to Work Day on May 15. Other parts of Canada have different dates. Calgary’s Bike to Work Day is May 1, while Winnipegge­rs will celebrate their two-wheeled commutes in mid-june.

Here’s to our dear Queen Victoria and her day. During her reign, Canada was created and we honour her by marking her birthday. Technicall­y, she was born on May 24, but we shouldn’t let a historical fact such as that get in the way of a long weekend. Let’s hope it’s warm so we can get some rides in without arm warmers.
