The Fretori idea was born five years ago when Charlie Bryer and his friends went for a fun ride to celebrate his pending wedding. Since then, Bryer has worked to put on events that maintain that feeling of a memorable ride with good friends. This year, he’s aiming to make the Fretori events more accessible, dropping the price and focusing on rider support. Riders will have the security of follow vehicles with mechanical support and feed stations along the variety of routes. Each route goes by the catered rest stop at the headquarters of Shimano Canada in Peterborough, Ont. At the finish, there’s more food, beer, complimentary massages and a strong possibility of a pick-up game or two of ball hockey. “To me, Fretori is all about having those amazing, memorable days on the bike with great friends,” Bryer says.
