Check out a legend of B.C., mountain biking, the Salty Dog Enduro. This isn’t your new-age, timed-sections style of enduro; the Salty Dog is all about cramming in as many laps as you can in a fixed period of time. Riders age 15 and older take on the six-hour time span, while those 14 and younger can ride in teams of two in the three-hour, or one of two shorter kids’ events. Plan to spend your whole weekend in Salmon Arm to take in the Pedal ’n’ Pint event on Friday night, the Salty Street Festival on Saturday and the race – or cheer on those who are competing – on Sunday. The prizes match the nature of this grassroots event: winners in each category get a homemade apple pie and a homemade medallion.
