Researcher­s in the Arctic are taking whale-watching to new heights — by using drones to study beluga whales. The drones, which are being used over Darnley Bay, just north of Paulatuk, N.W.T., allow the scientists to avoid tagging the whales or using airplanes for surveys, methods that hunters in the community consider disruptive.
