University of Manitoba researchers have received from the provincial and federal governments to study how microbes could be used to clean up oil spills in the Arctic. The GENICE project will study the DNA and other biomolecules of naturally occurring micro-organisms in Arctic environments to see if they can be used to biodegrade oil.
