The nickname of the great cormorant used in a recent study that showed the animal can hear under water — the first time researcher­s have documented the ability in a marine bird. Scientists from the University of Southern Denmark showed that Loke was able to hear sounds at a frequency between one and four kilohertz — the same range as cetaceans.
