An amorous owl, so­lar-pow­ered sea slugs, sea star flu­ids and more

Alex Froese, pro­gram di­rec­tor of the Man­i­toba Bur­row­ing Owl Re­cov­ery Pro­gram, de­scribes to the CBC the de­meanour of a wild fe­male bur­row­ing owl that was found try­ing to reach a cap­tive male and mate. The small grass­land owl is en­dan­gered in Canada, and Froese es­ti­mates there are fewer than five mat­ing pairs of the bird left in Man­i­toba.
