JUVENTIDE

Canadian Geographic - - WILDLIFE -

The name of an anti-wrinkle ingredient made from the bodily fluid of sea stars found around Prince Edward Island. Mussel fishermen there are collecting coelomic fluid from the creatures, which attack and eat the shellfish, before returning them to the ocean unharmed. The fluid, which is believed to help sea stars regenerate lost and damaged limbs, is then shipped to innoVactiv, a Quebec company that makes ingredients for cosmetics and claims to have unlocked “the regenerative potential of the mighty starfish.”
