Pronghorn praise

Canadian Geographic - - ENGAGING WITH US -

I enjoyed the moving and deeply personal “For the love of pronghorns” (May/june). Having been privileged to watch pronghorns on the Prairies, I am grateful that the slide into extinction was averted just in time. I know it’s very unlikely that we will see millions of pronghorns roaming the Prairies again, but I do believe that we should be careful in our choice of words to describe their current status. The pronghorn is indeed “a species brought back from the brink.” In that, it’s a success story — but it’s very far from a full recovery, which might not even be possible, as the pronghorn is still facing great challenges. Thanks for bringing this story to the world’s attention.
