NELLIE KUSUGAK BECOMES VICE-PATRON OF THE RCGS
Commissioner of Nunavut Nellie Taptaqut Kusugak has taken on the role of Vice-patron of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society, joining explorer and philanthropist Sir Christopher Ondaatje as one of two to currently hold the historic honorary title. Prior to becoming commissioner, Kusugak ( ABOVE, at the 2018 RCGS launch of the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada), a champion of Inuit culture and language from Rankin Inlet, was a public school and college educator, training new teachers through the Nunavut Teachers Education Program.
