of a new federally protected area on Isle-aux-grues, a small island in the St. Lawrence River about 80 kilometres east of Quebec City. The island is home to a number of at-risk animal and plant species, including the bobolink, a bird threatened in all 10 provinces, and Victorin’s gentian, a threatened plant that can only be found in Quebec’s portion of the St. Lawrence River estuary.
