Canada joins a ghost gear initiative, tall plants move into the Arctic and more
That’s how Josey Kitson, the executive director of World Animal Protection, describes Canada’s decision to join her organization’s Global Ghost Gear Initiative, which aims to reduce the amount of lost or abandoned fishing gear in oceans and thus help protect marine life. Canada announced it was joining the initiative during the G7 meeting of environment, energy and oceans ministers in Halifax in September 2018.
