The pres­ence of new and taller plant species in the Arc­tic and alpine tun­dra, re­gions where shorter grasses and shrubs have long been preva­lent, is linked to the ef­fects of a warm­ing cli­mate, a new study in­volv­ing more than 100 sci­en­tists around the world has found. The study, re­cently pub­lished in Na­ture, used nearly 30 years of veg­e­ta­tion sur­vey data from 117 tun­dra sites across the North­ern Hemi­sphere, in­clud­ing in Canada.
