EXPEDITION (HMS EREBUS AND TERROR), A LIMITED-EDITION PRINT RELEASE OF SIR JOHN FRANKLIN’S SHIPS BY CHRISTOPHER WALKER

-

Expedition, a painting of Sir John Franklin’s HMS Erebus and Terror, is dedicated to the 129 men who sacrificed their lives to bring a better understanding of the Arctic to the western world.

Through his remarkable work, Canadian artist Christopher Walker has brought the Franklin expedition to life, capturing Erebus and Terror’s arrival at Beechey Island — a moment of determination, gallantry and hope prior to when they were beset in ice. Working with the original ship plans from the National Maritime Museum in London and with technical support from marine archeologists, Walker created an authentic depiction of these famous ships.
