REC­OG­NIZ­ING IN­DIGE­NOUS LEAD­ERS

The In­dige­nous Peo­ples At­las of Canada, a first-of-its-kind ed­u­ca­tional re­source that ex­plores the sto­ries and per­spec­tives of First Na­tions, Métis and Inuit, was com­pleted by the RCGS this year. The lead­ers of the In­dige­nous part­ner or­ga­ni­za­tions that led its de­vel­op­ment — (from left) Na­tional Cen­tre for Truth and Rec­on­cil­i­a­tion di­rec­tor Ry Mo­ran; Ind­spire pres­i­dent and CEO Roberta Jamieson; Métis Na­tional Coun­cil pres­i­dent Clé­ment Chartier; As­sem­bly of First Na­tions Na­tional Chief Perry Bel­le­garde; and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami pres­i­dent Natan Obed — were pre­sented with RCGS Gold Medals, and par­tic­i­pated in a dis­cus­sion mod­er­ated by David Gray, host of CBC Ra­dio’s The Cal­gary Eye­opener.
