CRIME-SOLVING POLLEN

Bogumil Karas believes pollen and other spores can be used in the same way as fingerprints in forensic science, tying suspects to crime scenes and tracking the flow of illegal substances. The assistant professor at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry is part of a team developing a new way to capture DNA from pollen grains to narrow down their province or state of origin.
