School days

Canadian Living - - Editor’s Letter - Erin Mclaughlin cl. readers@

I’ve been out of the vortex of the school-year summer vacation for longer than I care to admit, yet there’s still something so revitalizing to me about September. Maybe it’s the buzz of the kids going back to school, the latest fall fashion or the return of a more structured routine that has me wish-listing new office supplies (there’s nothing like a fresh notebook, right?).

School’s in session at Canadian Living this issue with education in style, decor, health, cooking and life in general. For this month’s beauty lesson, we show you genius ways to look years younger (page 22), then learn how to effortlessly incorporate the hottest fashion trends into your wardrobe (page 24). In our Life & Community section, take our course in getting more free time (page 38), and use those newfound hours to dive into a juicy book (our picks are on page 46). Have you always loathed phys-ed? You’ll find inspiration to start a fitness regimen with a laid-back yet effective walking routine (page 56). There’s a primer in easy-care flowering shrubs (page 68) and a master class in designing the ultimate laundry room (page 70), too. And in “A Taste of Italy” (page 82), you’ll find the most important lesson you’ll ever learn in cooking class: how to eat like an Italian. Buon appetito!
