Not sure if you’re ready for a cape? Test the idea by draping your coat over your shoulders.
COLD COMFORT On the Fall 2018 catwalks, plenty of designers showed an iteration of a dramatic sweeping cape. While some of them appeared over gowns, many were geared toward outerwear. Our favourite is a combo of poncho, cape and wrap scarf—a chic yet functional way to tackle the tricky transitional months.

Experienced travellers know that a quality suitcase is the key to a worry-free trip. Travelpro’s new Platinum Elite collection checks off the essential features of long-lasting luggage, plus some new ones you didn’t know you were missing (like a built-in charging port).
3 All Patched Up An oversize decorative patch sewn or ironed onto a denim or field jacket lends a playful customized element to your look, but smaller patches are best on jeans. Choose darker denim and add a few on the back pockets or scattered in strategic points, such as above the knee and on thighs. We love showing off some Canadian pride with these vintage-look patches from the Drake General Store.
WHAT WE’RE WATCHING
Fashion and fall go hand in hand: The most anticipated issues of Vogue (and Canadianliving, of course) are out and we’re bingeing reality competition show Stitched, featuring style experts, like editor-in-chief Vanessa Craft (above right) of our sister publication Ellecanada, who judge the high-stakes designs.
