INTERTRIGO

-

Also known as skin fold fungus, this fungal infection causes irritation and inflammation within the folds of the skin, especially under the breasts and skin rolls. “It presents as a reddish rash with small itchy bumps,” says Dr. Doré.

TREATMENT

Apply an antifungal cream to the affected areas (prescribed or over-thecounter) twice a day, for two weeks.

PREVENTION

Try to stay cool and dry, wear breathable clothing made from natural fibres like cotton or linen. After showering or swimming, dry off really well, especially anywhere there are folds of skin—using a hair dryer can be helpful to ensure that your skin is totally dry. You can also apply cornstarch or baby powder on any affected areas to help absorb sweat.
