Running Packs
Salomon Skin Pro 10+3
The +3 refers to the vest’s ability to essentially unzip an accordion compartment and turn into a small pack with more storage. The included 1.5 l bladder with insulated bag keeps water cool for the duration of pretty much any run. The Skin Pro has a really customizable six-point, t wo-strap system as well as adjustable shoulder straps for perhaps the best fit of any pack we’ve tested. Two large shoulderstrap pockets, and more pockets closer to the back provide quick access to fuel, a phone or more f luid. A very versatile option.
Nathan Fireball
For such a small imprint on the back, the VaporAir allows you to carry up to 2 l of f luid. Our testers found it to rest very comfortably and breathes exceptionally well during a hot day on the trail. The bladder is a bit cumbersome to refill, but with such a large storage capacity for such a small pack, it’s not bound to be a major issue for even the most competitive ultraunner. For its size, the Rev 1.5 is impressively featured. The 1.5 l bladder is perfect for a half-day mission and the rest of the Rev 1.5 is designed to accommodate any one-day race distance. The stash pocket is roomy enough to stuff a jacket and other items. There’s a media pocket for your trusty phone, and a bungee cord on the back for extra storage.
MEC Pace Running Vest
This super small, form-fitting pack has a 1 l bladder, making it great for a shorter trail run or race with water stations There’s a limited amount of interior pack space, but the ample hip and shoulder pockets are great for pretty much everything you’d need on a sub-four-hour excursion. The super stretchy nylon breathable back is extremely comfortable. Adjustable shoulder and double sternum straps allow for any sized runner to strap on this fast pack.
