What to Do

-

The Finger Lakes region is all about wine. There are more than 100 wineries surrounding the area’s seven digit-shaped bodies of water. Many are gorgeous places to go for a tasting and a meal. Start with the one that pioneered viticulture in the region: Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, on Keuka Lake. The special tasting experience in their 1886 Reserve Tasting Room is highly recommended. The marathon itself also organizes a wine tour, shuttling you from one location to the next, so you can celebrate that new PB as much as you like.

It’s also worth getting a designated driver and following the Finger Lakes Beer Trail, which has over 120 breweries and brew pubs to visit. And, of course, right within Corning is the incredible glass museum, which reveals why this area is so historically important to much of the technology we still rely on today. The brand Corning, which is still headquartered in the city, invented Gorilla Glass, which is the touch-sensitive stuff used in iPhones, as well as camera and NASA telescope glass. It’s a super cool and educational experience.— CR
