Canadian Running - - DEPARTMENTS - By Brittany Moran

To run your best, you must be strong. Every time you strike the ground your body must take on 2.5x your body weight in force, and if you are running a marathon you will take 40–50,000 steps. So, adding strength training to your routine can have a big impact on your performance and injury prevention. Here are some strength exercises that will help you to run stronger and find your edge. The focus is on core and hip stability along with run-specific coordination. Always keep in mind quality over quantity. Aim for 1–3 strength session per week.
