With one bil­lion fit­ness up­loads and count­ing, Strava has a grip on en­durance en­thu­si­asts. And as a rel­a­tively small com­pany poised for ex­pan­sion, there are many paths to en­able growth if it is to sur­vive the com­pe­ti­tion from Google and Ap­ple. Sev­eral ex­pan­sion paths could un­fold, such as of­fer­ing Uber-style per­sonal train­ing, lead­ing to an en­croach­ment on brick-and-mor­tar stu­dios, such as GoodLife and Planet Fit­ness. Strava will likely cap­i­tal­ize on its mas­sive data­base of fit­ness in­for­ma­tion to cre­ate tar­geted ads in new and un­ex­pected ways. Let us pre­pare for a bold new fit­ness world.
