Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve

Canadian Wildlife - - BIGGER PICTURE -

When it comes to ecological uniqueness, not much surpasses Quebec’s Mingan Archipelago — a narrow strip of tiny islands and surrounding reefs that hug the Gulf of St. Lawrence’s north shore. Shaped by the sea and the relentlessness of time, ancient limestone monoliths stand erect like ancient sculptures guarding the shoreline. The park also features an abundance of land and marine organisms, from diverse seabird colonies to reef-patrolling harbour seals and humpback whales.
