William Ian ‘Bill’ Matheson

William ‘Bill’ Matheson passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in the Inverary Manor, Inverness.

Bill was born in L’Archeveque, Richmond County on Nov. 14, 1920. He was the fifth of six children of the late George and Annie B. Matheson.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his loving wife of 48 years, Agnes (Ferguson) (MacKenzie) Matheson, brothers, Murdoch, Donald, Roderick, sister, Florence.

Bill is survived by his five children, Iris (Wayne) MacKenzie Cummings, Oak Bay, N.B., Charlotte (Earl) MacKenzie Umlah, Iron Mines, Alexander MacKenzie, Sun City, Calif,, U.S.A., Joanne (Mark) Matheson Fanning, Belmont, Mass., U.S.A., Brian Matheson, Ft. McMurray, Alta.; his sister, Mary Wynn, Sydney; nephew, Sheldon Matheson, Hillsborou­gh. Bill was ‘ Papa’ to grandchild­ren, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Breton, Ainslee, Kevin and Matthew; great- grandchild­ren, Hailie, Logan and Lucas.

His family would like to thank the Inverary Manor for the wonderful care he received while a resident there.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Stewartdal­e Cemetery, with Rev. Andrew MacDonald officiatin­g.

Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to Stewartdal­e Cemetery.

Funeral arrangemen­ts for Bill are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomag­h.
