Born in Glace Bay on Nov. 21, 1944, today, May 20, 2013, we said goodbye to our best friend, mother, grandmothe­r and sister. Surrounded by her loving family, Mom passed away peacefully in the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Neil J. and Sarah (Chisholm) McCormick.

Mom was predecease­d by Brendon McIntyre; brothers, Buddy, Sonny, Tommy, Harvey; sisters-in law, Rose McCormick and Jacqueline McIntyre; niece, Irene (McIntyre) Waterman and nephew, Bobby Vaninetti. She is survived by her three children, Anita (David) Parsons, Joan McIntyre, Gerard (Cathy) McIntyre, all of Glace Bay and her very special pride and joy, Andrew and Ryan; sisters, Corinne ( Joe) Vaninetti, Bernice, Marjorie; sister and best friend, Mary (Will) Kelly; sister-in-law, Ruby McCormick; brothers-in-law, Reg and Dick McIntyre; godchild, Paul Kelly; several nieces and nephews and her two fur babies, Raven and Bella.

Mom worked at the Glace Bay General Hospital for 20 years and in her later years worked at Zellers, Sydney.

In honouring Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, on Thursday, May 23, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Daniel Boudreau will be officiatin­g.

Arrangemen­ts are entrusted to Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay.

A special thank you to Cathy Lloyd and Christine Jollymore for your caring and comforting words to our Mom and family on this journey.
