NuStar supports Strong Kids program
PORT HAWKESBURY — Children and families will receive the benefits of a major donation to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.
NuStar’s third annual Fairways to Success Charity Golf Classic raised $ 65,000 for the scholarship fund that supports children and families who face financial challenges and need child care and physical activity programs.
“This is the single largest donation we have received for the YMCA Strong Kids campaign in our history,” said Andre Gallant, CEO of the YMCA of Cape Breton, in a press release. “We are very grateful for the support from NuStar and the effort from their staff and management for making this possible.”
Money from the NuStar Point Tupper charity golf tournament were earmarked for the YMCA Strong Kids campaign this past summer.
“Strong Kids is a great program which enriches the lives of local children,” said Blaise MacDonnell, general manager with NuStar Point Tupper. “NuStar employees
take great pride in investing in the future and making a positive difference in our communities.”
Children in need of afterschool care, day camp and various YMCA activities are the direct beneficiaries of the donation.
“I can’t explain how important the YMCA and the YMCA Strong Kids campaign have been to my family,” said Kortney Adams, mother to a seven-year-old YMCA member.
“The support from the YMCA Strong Kids scholarship program has enabled my son to attend YMCA programs which have had a major influence on his health and development. NuStar’s support will mean more families like mine are able to access these programs.”
